Six Drinks

He walked into the dark, unfamiliar tavern with his broken heart barely beating. She was gone and all he could do was hope that the strongest whiskey the bartender had to offer would serve as his antidote. One drink to remember. The other to forget. A third to wash the taste down. Another with regret. The fifth would bring him visions, The sixth would numb the pain. He left the glasses empty, stumbling out into the rain.
